Pick a Book Club Launch at Vizag, India
Pick a Book is a social movement that hopes to motivate people to read more. In our bid toinspire people to rediscover the love for books, we launched Pick A Book (PAB) as a bookreading club. Very soon, this initiative picked up in popularity as more people and companiesshowed a keen interest in bringing this concept to life.
PAB is great for those who are thinking about how to become a reader, how to improve reading skills and how to improve public speaking skills. During the PAB sessions, a member will thoroughly read and research a book of their choice and present it in front of an audience. The presentation will cover the stories, lessons, inspiration and motivation from the book along with tips on how we can apply all of that in our own personal and professional lives.
We are immensely glad of the local and global reach PAB has gathered within a relatively short period of time. Therefore, we were delighted to have our 2nd launch in India on the 9th of May 2020. The PAB club in Visakhapatnam was successfully launched with 30 members and more than 81 participants. The launch was organized by the City President of PAB, Dr. K.Kavitha and her team.
The launch was graced by our chief guests, Kvt Ramesh, Ragulan Tharmakulasingam (who are the founders of Pick A Book) and Murali Srinivasan who is the National President of PAB India. The participants at the event were given an introduction to the concept of Pick A Book and the enthusiastic feedback they gave was a testament to how successful we hope PAB will be in Visakhapatnam. Pick A Book serves as a great platform for non readers to gain a love for reading, for existing readers to read more, for avid readers to share what they learnt from books with others and for those who hope to enhance their public speaking skills. As they say,“Reading maketh a man” and through PAB, we hope to bring about a change through reading, individually, through a community, country and eventually globally.
Participants at the launch were given a taste as to what the PAB sessions would ordinarilylooklike when Jai H Desai presented the book Triggers by Mark Reiter and Marshall Goldsmith. A bestseller that teaches readers how to inspire positive change that lasts, this book is great for those who want to become the person they always wanted to be. Jai H Desai talked about the environmental and psychological triggers that can derail people from their life and work and how to combat those challenges by creating behavioral changes.
The session was an interactive one that was well received by the audience. We are sure it isjust the beginning of something great for PAB India!
